My Story

My story includes many twists and turns and ups and downs. This is one of the reasons why I named this business; “Road to Wellness” because we all are on such a journey. We all get to the summit, but the path to get there can be filled with detours, slow downs, and stops.

Ultimately, what brought me to holistic wellness coaching, was the aftermath of my only child passing away in 2020. Israel was a special little boy with a tender heart and endless personality. He had been sick most of his short life including a bone marrow transplant. I was a crunchy mom and this blew apart everything I knew about health. While healing after his transplant, he died from “unkown causes” that led to every organ in his body shutting down and ultimately brain death.

While this story is tragic, it also has given me so many beautiful experiences. One of which is being with my son as his soul passed from this life to the next even though his body was kept alive by modern medicine. What a gift to know he was free and solidify my belief that we are a soul having a human experience.

Immense grief often causes us to realign our inner compass aka our personal North Star. This is where I had to prioritize what is important to me and to life. In the two years following Israel’s death, I decided I wanted to fulfill a long time passion of mine. I want to help people through their rough times and see them succeed and have joy in life again. I could have easily resigned to this loss (and other traumas I endured) and rightfully so. One day, I chose life over endless victimhood. I do not wish this kind of loss on anyone, but I hope it can be make a difference to show other people they have limitless potential and can overcome any hardship in life.

For most of my life, I have been a positive person. But grief gave me the gift of gratitude. One of the keys to healing and living a life filled with joy and purpose is being grateful. I don’t mean the cliche making a list of things you are grateful for, but envisioning what I am grateful for and feeling it at a somatic level. I am so grateful for my son, Israel. He made me a mommy, he taught me what true unconditional love is, and I found my voice advocating for him. Gratitude is a non-negotiable and is something I pass to my clients as well.

Its my greatest desire to see my clients empowered and back on the road to their destination. I have seen firsthand how seemingly terrible circumstances can be used for good.

Moving forward doesn’t mean the loss or trauma didn’t happen; it means the pain doesn’t control us anymore.

In health,

Joslyn
